Yu Shima ( SHIMA means an island) is home to over 200 local cats.
You can only access the island by ferry but it’s worth it to see friendly cats and the islanders.

Walking on the island feels peaceful and slow like time is standing still.
The cats on the island may not have a specific dwelling of their own, but they are always welcome to stay at the islander’s house.
The whole island is their safe place where they can move around freely and feel accepted by the community anytime they want.

Five ferry trips run daily from EHIDO Port to Yu-Shima Island, Visitors can opt for an earlier ferry to make it a day trip and spend time strolling around the entire island.
