NAKADAKE CRATER

As you get closer to the crater, with lava rocks and a gray landscape all around, it feels like you've stepped onto another planet.

This volcano is still active. Due to ongoing eruptions and emissions of volcanic gases, there is an entry restriction depending on the volcanic activity.

I was lucky enough to see the huge crater emitting smoke and scenery up close.

At the bottom of the crater, there's a grassy plain and a little café. The best time to visit is late spring when you can enjoy stunning landscapes with horses.
